This tile represents the flag of Detroit MI that was adopted in 1948. Each quarter in the background represents a different controlling country; Fleur de Lis of France, the golden lions of Great Britain, and 13 stars and 13 stripes represent the original colonies of the United States. The seal in the center of the flag represents the fire that destroyed the city in 1805.
